Voice therapy at Your Voice Matters

Who Can Benefit from Voice Therapy?

Many people are surprised to learn that voice therapy isn't just for singers or people who have completely "lost" their voice. Our voices are central to how we communicate, connect, work and express who we are. When something changes, speaking can become effortful, frustrating or simply not feel like "you" anymore.

Eleanor's passion for working with voice stems not only from her clinical training, but also from her own experiences as a professional singer. Having experienced a number of voice injuries herself, she understands firsthand the emotional and professional impact that voice difficulties can have.

She understands the pressures of performing an 8-10 show week, working through illness, managing vocal fatigue, and wondering whether your voice will recover in time for the next performance. This lived experience, combined with evidence-based clinical practice, informs a compassionate and collaborative approach to voice therapy and professional voice care.

At Your Voice Matters, we provide neuro-affirming, client-led voice therapy for adults experiencing a wide range of voice concerns in Adelaide and via telehealth.

Clinical Voice Care

Voice therapy may be helpful if you are experiencing:

Muscle Tension Voice Disorders

Do you experience vocal fatigue, throat tightness, strain, discomfort, or a voice that feels effortful? Muscle tension patterns can develop for many reasons and often respond well to evidence-based voice therapy.

Parkinson's Disease

Changes in loudness, clarity and vocal strength are common in Parkinson's disease. As an LSVT-certified speech pathologist, I support people with Parkinson's to maintain and optimise their communication and vocal function.

Gender-Affirming Voice Therapy

Your voice is an important part of identity and self-expression. Gender-affirming voice therapy is collaborative and individualised, supporting you to explore communication patterns and develop a voice that feels authentic and aligned with your goals.

Ageing Voice

Changes in vocal quality, endurance and volume can occur as we age. Voice therapy can support vocal strength, confidence and participation in the activities that matter to you.

Organic Voice Disorders

Voice therapy is commonly recommended alongside ENT care for conditions such as vocal fold nodules, polyps, haemorrhage and contact ulcers. Therapy aims to support vocal healing, optimise vocal efficiency and reduce the likelihood of ongoing vocal difficulties.

Professional Voice Care and Speech Coaching (sub-clinical)

Your voice is one of your most important professional tools. We also offer professional voice care, speech analysis and coaching for public speakers, or people who need to make an impact with their speaking through work.

Eleanor also sees people who rely on their voice at work, including teachers, singers, public speakers, clergy, lawyers and other professional voice users.

Professional voice coaching can support:

  • Vocal endurance and reducing fatigue

  • Vocal efficiency and healthy voice use

  • Public speaking confidence

  • Presentation and communication skills

  • Speaking with clarity and impact

Please note that sub-clinical speech coaching services are privately funded and are not eligible for Medicare or private health rebates unless a clinically significant communication or voice disorder is identified.
